About this course

Do you currently work in childcare and want to move into program management? This course is essential for anyone wanting to further their management career in early childhood care and education. You will learn to plan, implement and manage programs in early childhood services.

With this qualification you will be ready to continue your rewarding career in the early childhood care and education profession.

Current Government policy encourages existing staff to achieve the Diploma of Children's Services (Early Childhood Education and Care).

Entry requirements

To enter this course, you must have completed or have the work-based equivalent skills of the units below from the Certificate III in Children's Services.

You can discuss your experience and knowledge with our training staff at any time.

Duration and/or dates

Classes are held one day a week for 18 months (full-time study).

Delivery mode

Students must attend classes at both the Fulham and Bairnsdale campuses. Online study, self directed learning and project work are included in this study program.

Practical placement

There are 240 hours of placement which is delivered over two placement blocks or in your workplace.

For Semester 2015 applications via the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC), you can apply directly for the Diploma of Children's Services if you are:
· NOT currently studying Year 12 in Australia; and
· Intending to submit an application only to Advance TAFE.

Applicants who are intending to apply to more than one institution and all current Year 12 students must apply through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). This course is listed on page 119 of the VTAC Guide or on the VTAC website. The selection criteria and requirements published by VTAC apply to all applicants.
